The Institute’s strategy for this strongly interdisciplinary research direction involves: Development of genetic testing protocols for predisposition to hereditary cancer - Biophysical, biochemical, immunochemical and functional studies of proteins and peptides aiming towards the understanding of the mechanisms of disease and the identification of novel markers for disease progression – Design and synthesis of bio functional molecules as potential pharmaceutical agents - Design and development of nano-engineered, DNA-based biosensors for accurate, low-cost and efficient applications in molecular diagnostics and genetic screening devices. The interdisciplinary studies are co-funded by public agencies in Greece, by NCSR “Demokritos” and by the European Community |
